The total number of killed and injured in Donbass for July 2016 is the highest monthly total since August 2015. This has been published in a report of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, reports the news channel 112 Ukraina.
The report states that, between July 1 and 31, 73 civilian victims were recorded, out of them, 65 injured and 8 killed. In June, 69 victims were recorded; out of them 12 killed and 57 injured.
“The average monthly number of victims among the civilian population, recorded in June and July, is two times higher than the monthly totals for the period between September 2015 and May 2016, when, on average, 34 casualties per month were recorded”, mentions the organisation’s report.
The UN stated that he main cause of death and injuries were bombardments. Other causes of death and injury are landmines and explosive remnants of war.
According to the organisation’s information, in total, since the beginning of the conflict, 9 533 persons were killed and 22 137 persons were injured.
